Lions, Tigers and Bears...

A Camping Wedding Theme I have encountered to many conversations this week about camping. People saying let's go camping here and how about this weekend and hey - where are you going camping for your summer holiday. I have to be honest with you, when I think of camping I do think of lions, tigers and bears. Plus, all those other feasting animals out there: wasps, bees, mosquitoes etc. I am more of a "Hilton" kind of camping girl. Running water, soft beds - room service.

But, I can't deny that I have enjoyed many (several) good camping trips. If the sun is out, water near by and trees to lie under, nature has a way of bringing serenity and peace. Last summer, I helped a bride create a camping wedding. She wanted something different, unique and relaxing for all therefore she decided to get married under the pine trees with breathtaking flowers blooming around her. She was delighted with her results. Have you ever thought of giving your guests a weekend away and offering them a chance to explore the world of nature at your wedding?

The great thing about having your wedding at your favourite camping spot is that nature has done the majority of the work. Nature naturally provides a glorious area without the need for a lot of decoration - the flowers are already there, large areas are available for all your guests to gather etc.

Although, I have to say the best thing about this type of wedding is the casualness it offers. Camping is about getting away from it all. Cell phones, computers, the city; it offers an escape. And you would be amazed at how many of your guests would be wiling to pull out their tents and join you for a camping wedding weekend.

If this type of wedding sounds like something you would further want to explore, check out our Wild Thing Wedding Theme in our book. It has tons of ideas and inspiration on how to make this theme wedding be the talk of the "country". When we were travelling through Africa, there were many of opportunities to go camp and those lions are prowling. And living in Alberta, we have tons of different bears in our backcountry. It actually has sparked numerous conversations around our backyard fire pit. The Lion and the Grizzly bear are both known for their grand presence and since they don't live on the same continent they both can call themselves the king of their country. But, what if they got together? Who would win that battle - the lion or the bear? I still can't decide. And really, I don't ever want to come close enough to ask either one of them.
